How to: Match Your Foundation

Hello makeup lovers! Suddenly I just thought of sharing some tips on how to match your foundation. This is always the trickiest part especially when you buy foundation online. As for me, I always avoid buying online UNLESS, I already own that product and that I already know my shade.

Tips for Matching Your Foundation:

  • If it happens that the foundation has no tester, the best way to find the matching foundation is to hold the bottle up to your jaw line instead of matching it with your hands or neck or arms etc. Usually parts of your face will be the one that you should match the foundation.
  • Most makeup stores will have testers. This is better because you can test the foundation on your skin. Try to remove a small amount of makeup on your jawline and blend the foundation on your skin. If the shade that you choose blends into your skin, means you've found your shade! But if it appear lighter or darker, try a different shade.
  •  Also be reminded that sometimes foundation out of the bottle won't match your skin perfectly. This happen to me when it comes to my Artistry Foundation. I have to mix two shades; a slightly lighter than my skin tone and a slightly darker than my skin tone to match my skin perfectly. It's kind of a trial and error to find the perfect combination.
  • Always be prepared to get a foundation that is 1 shade darker than your skin tone. Since our country is super hot & humid, you may not know when you'll get tanned under the hot sun. When I am out under the sun doing activities w/o any makeup, I tend to be slightly darker than usual. This is when I'll need my NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Foundation. ;)
  • If your skin has a pink undertone or if the veins on your wrist appear blue, choose a "c" for cool shade but if the veins on your wrist looks green, choose a "w" for warm shade. If you are uncertain, you can always choose a "n" for neutral shade.
Here's the end of my post and hopefully these tips are helpful to you. I always apply tip 1 and tip 3 when purchasing my foundation since I am used to choosing my shade for a certain brand. Till my next post!

Laqa & Co. Lil Lip Duo | Review & Swatches

When I went to Luxola's website to purchase Lavie Lash, I came across the LAQA &Co Lil Lip Duo. Since I have a HUGE obsession for lipsticks, I thought I will give this a try and get the lip duo first instead of the individual fat lip pencil. There's two to sets of different colors to choose from. Then I've decided to get the pink ones which are Pinkman and Lambchop.

So, when I get my hands on the LAQA & Co, I immediately try it on and decided to do a swatch/review on this product. This is definitely an amazing lip product! A must have! I am very impress with the quality. It is very creamy and extremely pigmented. One coat of it on your lips & it will last throughout the day. Somehow, it kinda have a lip stain effect. It just won't go off. Especially Pinkman!

The finish is not as matte as a lipstick yet it is not as glossy as a lipgloss. It's kind of in between and it doesn't make my lips dry. In fact, it is moisturizing. Must be because of the creamy texture I suppose. I must say, I am now a fan of  LAQA & Co Lip Pencil! A* ratings for this!!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge | Review

The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is definitely a 'love it/hate it' kind of thing. From what I read from other bloggers or search for reviews on You Tube, it is definitely true. Some would say this is better than the Beauty Blender but some vice versa.

I'm never a fan for sponges and I've never tried the Beauty Blender before so a side-by-side comparison for this is totally impossible. The sponge is designed to be used damp or dry. I use it dry because I just want to see the difference between applying it dry and wet. Will do the wet one next time. The sponge has a flat edge, contours around eyes & nose and for all-over application. Domed shape sides to blend large areas of the face and a tip to cover imperfections (concealer application) or under the eye area and around the nose. The shape works perfectly on my face. I love how the sponge works beautifully and give a very luminous and smooth finish. Somehow, I prefer this Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge compared to my Real Techniques Buffing Brush in terms of the smoothness after-application of foundation.

Only thing is, the function of this sponge. The spread of the product was limited and I had to use 2-3 pumps of foundation because the sponge builds up a lot of product (see picture below). I will only use a pump of foundation when using my brush but for this sponge, I had to add a little extra pump of foundation to completely cover my entire face.

But overall I am quite impressed at how this sponge works and that it is only $15. I am not sure whether you can get any cheaper than this price but $15 is definitely a good investment for those who are trying out this product. It's also great at tapping in concealer and blending in foundation.

I hope this review is helpful and also a link to the site where I got this from is down below. Till my nest post!
